Maekinn (Left)

Maekinn was a tower in central Eitri, Svartálfaheimr situated across a bridge from the King's Palace.

History

In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi ran away from Surtr after trying to kill him with the Salakar and made his way to Maekinn. There, Surtr again confronted him and they fought once more. Being victorious again, Havi dragged Surtr's body to the center of the room, took Surtr's blade, and stuck it through his head. While Surtr tried to revive himself, Havi used the Salakar once more and a light beamed from Surtr's body through the tower. Surtr finally choked to death and his body completely disintegrated while the light beam that Havi set off unintentionally marked the start of Ragnarök. After defeating Surtr, he claimed the atgeir Muspel Spark from the warlord's personal effects.[1]
