Maekinn was a tower in central Eitri, Svartálfaheimr situated across a bridge from the King's Palace.
History
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi ran away from Surtr after trying to kill him with the Salakar and made his way to Maekinn. There, he was confronted again by Surtr, and they fought once more. Being victorious again, Havi dragged Surtr's body, took Surtr's blade, and stuck it through his head. While Surtr was trying to revive himself, Havi used the Salakar one more time, and a light beam emerged from Surtr's body through the tower. Choking, Surtr finally died as his body completely disintegrated. Unintentionally, the light beam that Havi set off marked the start of Ragnarök. After defeating Surtr, he claimed the atgeir Muspel Spark from the warlord's personal effects.[1]
