The livre was the main currency used throughout the Kingdom of France and the subsequent First French Republic following the French Revolution of 1789.^[1]

In Assassin's Creed: Unity, the in-game HUD anachronistically uses the French franc's currency symbol "₣",^[1] despite it being the currency's unofficial graphic proposed 200 years later in 1988.^[2] Historically, the kingdom's currency was the livre tournois (lit. "Tours pound") variant of French livre and had "₶" or "£" as its symbol.^[3]
