Emperor Xuanzong of Tang (Chinese: 唐玄宗; 685 – 762), born Li Longji (Chinese: 李隆基) was the seventh Emperor of the Tang dynasty in China from 713 to 756.

In the first 30 years of his reign, he was credited with bringing the Tang dynasty to the pinnacle of culture and power. In the later period of his reign, his over-trust of Yang Guozhong,  Li Linfu and General An Lushan led to the An Lushan Rebellion that lasted 8 years.
