Kerke was a small ancient Egyptian village located south of Memphis in the southeast corner of Atef-Pehu Nome. The village was well known for their opium and honey farms, which attracted the soldiers of Ptolemy XIII's army.
History
In 48 BCE, the Medjay, Bayek, passed by the village during his journey to Faiyum. There, he met Meritmaat, the village leader who was facing troubles from the nearby military camp. He helped her to rescue a hostage from the camp, before departing the village to track down the camp's commander responsible for the kidnapping.[1]
