John Elliotson (29 October 1791 – 29 July 1868) was an author, teacher and renowned doctor in London during the Victorian era. He was also a member of the British Rite of the Templar Order.[1]

In 1868, while conducting an electroconvulsive therapy session, he was killed by the Assassin Jacob Frye.[2]
