Jan Almqvist is a Swedish artist at Ubisoft. He was a part of the development team for Assassin's Creed: Odyssey working as a Senior Level Artist.

Biography

Early life and career

Jan Almqvist began his career as a 3D artist at ComputerHouse in Gothenburg, Sweden, creating character and unit sprites for the RTS game Vlad Tepes Dracula. He then worked at Auran Games in Brisbane, Australia, as a lead animator on the cancelled RTS/RPG game Harn: Bloodlines. In 1999, he joined Digital Animations as a 3D generalist, contributing to Ronaldo V-Football. Almqvist worked as a character animator at VIS Entertainment on State of Emergency and a music video for the Vengaboys. He co-founded Habitat North / Opus Games, where he served as producer and creative director, but the studio eventually closed. At Headfirst Productions, he led the animation team for Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End. Almqvist joined Axis Animation, contributing to the short film Codehunters. Created assets of his included; the backdrops, consisting of inaccessible terrain and meshes,[2] volcanic biomes, landscapes and terrain,[3] the landscapes of the Paradise Islands,[4] further landscapes for the seasons of Summer and Spring,[5][6] and lastly landscapes for the Deciduous Forest,[7] and Arid landscape terrain.[8] He then left Ubisoft Quebec in 2019, but returned to Ubisoft in September 2022 to work remotely as a Terrain Specialist.[1]
