Hirate Masahide (平手 政秀, 1492 – 1553) was a Japanese samurai who served the Oda clan.

Masahide was one of the four of Oda Nobuhide's high-ranking subordinates who became Oda Nobunaga's tutors upon the latter's designation as official heir. Masahide and the other three taught Nobunaga how to deal with military strategy and politics. In 1553, after Nobuhide's death, Masahide protested Nobunaga's behaviour by commiting suicide, which shocked the young man into focusing on his obligations as head of the clan.[1]
