In 1515, Hiram met a young Assassin named [[Giovanni Borgia]], and for some reason an enmity developped between them.

A rivalry developped between the young Assassins, which culminated during a mission to recover an [[Apples of Eden|Apple of Eden]] that was lead by Hiram. During the mission, Stoddard witnessed something related to Consus, an [[Isu]]an entity with whom Borgia had a special affinity, that deeply affected him.

While dueling, Borgia asked for Hiram's forgiveness and tried to convince his former rival to come back into the Brotherhood.
