Heriphile was an Elean shepherdess in the Linou Farm in the 5th century BCE Elis, Greece.
Biography
Devout in her faith for the Eagle Bearer, Heriphile carried with her a roughly hewn wooden amulet, shaped to resemble an eagle. She believed that the amulet protected her and her flock of goats.[1]
However, while tending to her herd south of Linou, Heriphile was frightened by a pack of wolves. While fleeing the beasts, she lost her amulet.[1]
Soon after, she met her hero, the Spartan misthios Kassandra, after the priestess Hexione had suggested Heriphile might need Kassandra's help.[1]
After the girl Myrto fell sick while preparing for the feast dedicated to the Eagle Bearer, Heriphile was shocked, and pleaded with Kassandra to spare the rest of them from her wrath.[2]
Behind the scenes
Heriphile, a character in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, has a name similar to Herophile, an oracle mainly based on Samos according to Pausanias' Description of Greece.[3]
