The Grand Bazaar was a large market in Constantinople.

History

The Grand Bazaar opened to the public in 1461 and was a very popular place with food, spices, pottery, fabric and much more. It was a very famous Turkish landmark and shopping location in the Ottoman Empire. It was vastly enlarged during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent.

Trivia

  • The name means "Covered Bazaar" (Turkish: Kapalıçarşı).
  • The Grand Bazaar was seen in the Assassin's Creed: Revelations E3 Demo when Ezio walks through it to get to the Great Chain.
