The Gates of Baghdad were the gates connected by walls which protected the city of Baghdad and the inner Madinat As-Salam, many of which were built during the Abbasid Caliphate.[1] While the Round City originally had[2] four gates leading into the outer districts and directed towards Kufa, Damascus, Khorasan, and Basra,[3] they were eventually destroyed[2] and replaced by a number of other entryways.[1]
