The Alamans, more commonly known as Alamanni, were an alliance of Germanic tribes around the upper Rhine during the Roman era.

In 259, the Assassin Accipiter was also an Alaman, and fought in a battle with an army of Romans under the command of the general Gracchus.[1] Later, he led the Alamans in attack of Lugdunum and Italy.[2]
