E-mails from various individuals are available throughout Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and give various background information on characters and key elements. The internet service used to send these e-mails in the first Assassin's Creed is known as the Abstergo Email Network and is used by the Templars, the Hephaestus Email Network is the Assassin's alternative, used by Desmond Miles and the other assassins in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Vidic's E-mail
- Main article: Vidic's e-mail
Warren Vidic's e-mails reveal more about Abstergo, and the Daily Headlines messages reveal startling facts about the condition of the world in 2012.
Lucy's Email
- Main article: Lucy's e-mail
Lucy Stillman appears to have deliberately given Desmond the opportunity to read her e-mail. The messages give startling insight on Abstergo.
Conference Room Email
The computer in the conference room of Abstergo contains only one e-mail message, in the Inbox.
This e-mail, from Alan Rikkin, describes different artifacts that Abstergo has acquired, wishes to acquire, or had wished to acquire at some point in the past. Be advised that this message contains spoilers.

| Warren:
The others and I have finished reviewing the Animus recordings from Subjects 12-16. While the Piece of Eden remains our priority, we must all continue working to locate and understand the remaining artifacts. I am sure you can understand our reasoning behind this. Although the satellite is intended to accomplish a fair portion of the work for us, we will certainly need to deal with those who are either immune to - or protected from - its effects. Please take a moment to look over our findings and get back to me with any feedback you may have. I will summarize below:
Warren, I cannot stress how important it is that you wrap things up with Subject Seventeen as soon as possible. We're obviously relieved that you seem to be closing in on the target memory, but you need to step it up. Everything we're working towards depends on your retrieving those locations. Without them, we've got nothing. May The Father of Understanding guide you to success. A.R. | |
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Through his own computer terminal in the Sanctuary, Desmond is now able to receive and read his own e-mails. Additionally, after receiving a list of passwords from the mysterious Erudito, he is also able to access the e-mails of his three teammates. The e-mails mostly involve the team's communications with each other, as well as Shaun's and Lucy's conversations with another Assassin referred to as William M.

Project Legacy
After completing surveys in Project Legacy, Abstergo or Erudito may send you e-mails in reaction to your answers. The following are the currently known e-mails:
After Entry Survey
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "HISTORY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "History is accurate." You responded: "Historians pride themselves on unbiased accuracy." Certainly many historians strive for accuracy, but how can we put faith in documents written before we were born? How can we trust that personal opinion and prejudice has been removed from the material? This is why you are so important to our project. By reliving actual memories, you will help us uncover the truth. Together, our team will rewrite history. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "HISTORY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "History is accurate." You responded: "History is only as accurate as the author of the book." What if you could meet the author of the book? Observe a battle from either side? This is why you are so important to our project. By reliving actual memories, you will help us uncover the truth. Together, our team will rewrite history. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "HISTORY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "History is accurate." You responded: "We should worry about the future." No doubt you've heard George Santayana's legendary quote - "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." We believe that reliving the past and uncovering the truth will help us create a better future. Together, our team will experience new perspectives within historical events. Together, we will rewrite history. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "HISTORY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "History is accurate." You responded: "I've never been interested in history." Your response is honest, but we're confident you will soon change your mind. You'll find a great difference between viewing history through a stuffy textbook and experiencing it through the eyes of a participant. Together, our team will experience new perspectives within historical events. Together, we will rewrite history. | |
Italian Wars
After Chapter 1
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | You need to start playing it safe |
| Careful... I'm all for sticking it to Abstergo, but open defiance will get you cut off. | |
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the statement "I have Italian ancestors." by offering Abstergo a list of your documented genealogy.)
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Yes, there are wrong answers |
| You offered Abstergo a list of your ancestors? I'd avoid sending them that list, if I were you. Haven't you wondered where they farm memories for the DDS? | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "ANCESTRY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "I have Italian ancestors." You responded: "I have never researched my genealogy." We can help you. If you visit the Abstergo offices in your area, our colleagues will provide you with a quick and relatively painless genetic test. As we are currently proving, each person contains valuable knowledge passed along through genetic memory. Perhaps you even hold within you answers to some of history's greatest mysteries. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "ANCESTRY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "I have Italian ancestors." You responded: "Not that I know of." Perhaps it's something you should research. As we are currently proving, each person contains valuable knowledge passed along through genetic memory. Perhaps you even hold within you answers to some of history's greatest mysteries. | |
After Chapter 2
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "INFLUENCE" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "People are easily manipulated." You responded: "History has proven that statement time and again." Correct. As you explore the DDS, you will confirm it to be a constant historical truth. Understanding this offers a more realistic view of the world today. Why does "manipulate" need to have such a negative connotation? Why can't the followers follow the great into greatness? | |
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the "INFLUENCE" question by saying that if they suspect you of being easily manipulated, then they are wrong.)
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | You'd be surprised... |
| Are you sure you're not being manipulated? None of us are free from the influence of others. You just need to make sure you're listening to the right ones. | |
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the "INFLUENCE" question by saying that you generally get what you want from people.)
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | You won't impress them |
| You say you generally get what you want from people. That's a confident statement, almost a challenge. You may believe Abstergo is looking for such confidence. No. They're looking for servants. | |
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the "INFLUENCE" question by saying that you are not good at manipulating people.)
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Well played? |
| Are you really a poor manipulator or did you just answer that way to deceive Abstergo? Either way, you're flying below the radar, which is a good thing. | |
After Chapter 3
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the "EMPATHY" question with "Whose side do you want me to take?")
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Hello? |
| Seriously? You asked them which side to take? Either you're making fun of them (not wise) or they owe you an "Abstergo's #1 Buttkisser" mug for your desk. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "EMPATHY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "You find yourself taking the side of the subject in each memory." You responded: "It depends on the subject." It's only natural you'd empathize with the subjects behind the memories and those with a stronger synch will be harder to resist. You're viewing the events through one perspective, one that is often convinced it is doing the right thing. I wonder how you would feel if we sent you the memories of that same subject's rival for review. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "EMPATHY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "You find yourself taking the side of the subject in each memory." You responded: "It's hard to see both sides of the story." An astute observation. It's rare to find a memory where the subject cannot wholeheartedly justify his actions. DDS users are easily influenced by the induced fugue state, but your clear vision is impressive. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "EMPATHY" |
| In the quiz, we stated: "You find yourself taking the side of the subject in each memory." You responded: "No. I'm simply observing their actions. I don't empathize." It's interesting that you do not feel any empathy during your memory reviews. Your file tells us you passed our test criteria to ensure a solid link with the DDS, so the synchronization should be making an impact. I will forward your report to our engineers to see if we can increase the signal strength. | |
After Chapter 4
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the question "What do you know about Erudito?" with "Erudito?". Erudito is pleased that you pretended not to know about him.)
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | No Subject |
| :) | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "INTRUDER" |
| In the quiz, we asked: "What do you know about Erudito?" You responded: "He seems to know an awful lot about your subject matter." First, we must stress the dangers of associating with outside connections that force their way into the DDS system. Not only do you risk termination of your contract with us, but you may force us to pursue legal options. You have been a tremendous asset to our program, but you must understand that contact with this "Erudito" user will not be tolerated. | |
| From: | Abstergo Industries |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Your answer to "INTRUDER" |
| In the quiz, we asked: "What do you know about Erudito?" You responded: "You can follow up through email. I am willing to submit a full report if you request one." Thank you for your offer to file a report on "Erudito." Please be thorough. If we can track his patterns, we can begin to block his access to the DDS system and continue our work without further interruptions. | |
(Note: The following message is sent after responding to the question "What do you know about Erudito?" with "I've already filed a full report on him.")
| From: | Erudito |
| To: | Abstergo recruit |
| Date/Time: | [relative] |
| Subject: | Someone's been naughty... |
| You reported me? That stings. Not that it really matters... I am miles ahead of these goons. I'm going to have to work harder to open your eyes, aren't I? | |
