Akila was a personal servant of the pharaoh Cleopatra during the late 1st century BCE.
During Octavian's siege of Alexandria in around 30 BCE, Akila witnessed a captured Roman spy be executed on Cleopatra's order. Akila turned away at the first sight of blood. Cleopatra then order that the spy's head be sent to Octavian as a message. Akila then confirmed that what the spy said was true and Octavian's army was closing in on the city. Cleopatra then said that the spy's stubbornness reminded her of someone.[1]
