Ratonhnhaké:ton scaling the cliffs of Dead Chest Island in 1774.

Dead Chest Island was an island in the British Virgin Islands.

History

Sometime during his life, infamous pirate Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, visited the island and left fifteen of his crew members on the island as punishment. Teach left each sailor with a cutlass and a bottle of rum, and he returned later that month to find most of the men had already died.

In 1774, the Assassin Ratonhnhaké:ton travelled to the island in search of a piece of a map for Peg Leg. Once on the island, Ratonhnhaké:ton pursued a mercenary who held the piece. After killing the mercenary, Ratonhnhaké:ton collected the piece and left the island.
