The Cuttoe Sword was a short hanger sword. Models of this cuttoe appeared in the markets of New Orleans,^[1] Boston, New York, and across towns in the Frontier during the 18th century.^[2] The Assasin Ratonhnhaké:ton purchased one for his armory during the American Revolution.^[2]

Derived from the French word Couteau, this shorter hanger sword is essentially one big knife made especially for hunting. It can also settle things down when tempers flare. The hilt is made of wood and covered in leather.
