Clara O'Dea

Clara O'Dea (24 February 1856 – unknown) was a young British girl working with the Assassins, specifically Henry Green and the Frye twins. As the "spokesperson" of the children of London, Clara served as the Brotherhood informant, feeding them rumors and other information on their enemies.

Biography

At the age of 10, and after her mother became unable to do so, Clara took the reins of the family and became responsible for her younger siblings' well being. Having a family to feed, Clara soon developed an acute sense of business and a network of contacts throughout the city, principally among the exploited and disenfranchised children working in the factories, mines and in all the sectors of London's booming economy.[1]

As the unofficial voice of those numerous children, Clara later became the source of information for a severely weakened British Brotherhood, using her contacts as spies or couriers to get news on specific events or about the Templars' activities all around London.[1]

She became a ringleader of other orphaned street children and encouraged them to pickpocket in the Westminster borough.[2]

In 1868, Clara was met by Jacob and Evie Frye, who were building an underground network against the Templars. Clara only agreed to provide intelligence on the condition that they free groups of children forced to work in sweatshops. She and Evie sealed their pact by spitting into and shaking their hands.[1]

Sometime after Jacob's assassination of Dr. John Elliotson, the children in Clara's care, including herself, fell ill leading to the young girl's visit to the Lambeth Asylum where she fainted into Evie's arms. Fortunately, the door to the hospital was opened by a woman, who identified herself as Florence Nightingale, and the young girl was immediately given attention. Evie immediately recovered needed supplies needed for the cure.[1]
