Checco Orsi was a member of a noble family of Forlì. With his brother Ludovico, he led a conspiracy against Girolamo Riario because of financial disputes. Supported by Rodrigo Borgia, they murdered Girolamo, looted his palace and eventually tried to take the fortress of Caterina Sforza (Girolamo's wife) in order to obtain an artifact of inestimable value.[1]
