Ubisoft description.

The Blacksmith (real name: Auguste Oberlin) was an Animi Avatar used by Abstergo Industries to train the recruits in their Animi Training Program. He used a large hammer as his weapon. To unlock the Blacksmith, the recruit had to reach level 15.

Unique Moves

The Blacksmith had several unique moves:

(Low Profile, Front)

Approaching his target casually, the Blacksmith scoops them up in his arms and lifts them high above his head, before violently slamming their back down onto his knee, snapping their spine. Finished with his victim, he rolls them off of his leg, sending their lifeless body falling to the ground, before standing up and carrying on as usual.

(Low Profile, Back)

The Blacksmith sneaks up to his target from behind and forcefully placing his hammer across their throat, holding at both ends of the handle. While his victim can do nothing but struggke, he roughly twists his weapon and snaps their neck, sending their dead body spinning to the floor. He then conceals his hammer by replacing it at his back.

(High Profile, Front)

The Blacksmith runs at his target, before knocking them helpless to the floor and riding his hammer head downwards into his their face. Standing up, the Blacksmith nudges his hammer from side to side to help him dislodge it, before walking away, leaving his victim with a bloody mess for a head.

(High Profile, Back)

The Blacksmith runs up behind his target, before taking out his hammer and violently sweeping their legs from beneath them with a great force, causing them to fall hard into the ground. He then brings the hammer around onto his victim's face, crushing it messily and killing them instantly.

(Bench Kill)

The Blacksmith approaches his seated target, before hooking his hammer underneath their foot and dragging them away from the bench by their ankle. Taking his hammer at the end with two hands, he smashes its head downwards into his victims's face, before replacing his weapon at his back.

(Aerial Kill)

The Blacksmith jumps from a rooftop and lands on his victim, forcing them to the ground as he straddles their waist. From there, he delivers a powerful hammer strike down into his victim's head, killing them instantly and splatting blood everywhere. Afterwards, the Blacksmith stands upright and conceals his hammer, before walking away from the gruesome mess of a body.

Customization

The Blacksmith's outfit and gear could be customized in several ways:

Colors:

  • Basic: Red Apron.
  • Extra 1: Dark Blue Apron.
  • Extra 2: Baby Blue Apron.
  • Extra 3: Black Apron.

Gear:

  • Advanced: Color of plate armor changed to gold, gauntlet and belt adorned with metal, added leather vambrace over gauntlet.
  • Superior: Apron has added studs, added braids in beard.
  • Elite: Larger spaulders, metal armor plate on the wrist of the right arm.

Trivia

  • It is stated that the Blacksmith was a Swiss mercenary.
  • Since the Blacksmith never receives an armguard or sleeve, whenever the Hidden gun is equipped on him, it will appear as if it is internally attached to his skin.
  • Even though the multiplayer character, his database picture, promotional artwork, and his profession all have/use hammers, he fights with a bearded axe against Ezio in the single player Templar assignment.
  • While the promotional artwork of the Blacksmith features his hammer as having a black hammerhead, the character's weapon in-game shows his hammer with a silver head and having small domes inside the ends.
