Athenian Treasury

The Athenian Treasury was a treasury that was located in the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece. Built with marble from the island of Paros,[1] it was dedicated by the Athenians to the Greek god of poetry, Apollo, to commemorate their victory against the Persians after the Battle of Marathon in the Greco-Persian Wars.[2]

During the Peloponnesian War, the building was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[3]

Between 1903 and 1906, the ruins was restored by a group of French archaeologists, such that it became the best-preserved monument in the sanctuary in modern times.[1]
