Belgrave Square is one of the grandest and largest 19th-century squares in London, United Kingdom.
History[edit | edit source]
Prior to its development in 1820, the area, located between London and the nearby village of Knightsbridge, was a swampy and rural farming area which served as a haven for dog-fighters. The land was soon developed by landowners in collaboration with the large and wealthy Grosvenor family as part of a project to expand London.[1]
Completed in 1825, the corners of the square correspond with the four points of the compass. Uniform houses were constructed that line the square and have been occupied by numerous notable English people, including ambassadors, politicians, and Queen Victoria's mother Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld.[1]
During the mid-19th century, the British Assassins Evie and Jacob Frye visited the square.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
In game, there is a fountain reused from Unity in the middle of the square, the fountain itself is based on the fountain in the Place des Vosges in Paris.[3]
