Augustus (Latin: Imperātor Caesar Dīvī Fīlius Augustus; 63 BCE – 14 CE) was the founder of the Roman Empire and its first Emperor, ruling from 27 BCE until his death. Born as Gaius Octavius, he was known mainly as Octavian before becoming Emperor. The adopted son and heir of Gaius Julius Caesar, Augustus followed in his footsteps to become the Order of the Ancients' leader, which cemented the Order's control over the Roman Empire.[1]
