AI individuals

This is an ongoing discussion.

With recent developments plus the Shaun and Rah Cel'eze AIs (as well as the Norns?), is it time to have a category for AI individuals or is that just going to create a headache with distinguishing them from digitally preserved Isu minds and the like? The Norn are representations for Eivor of Yggdrasil's calculations, so I wouldn't say they're thinking AI. I also wouldn't say that the 4 current personalities—Shaun, Rah, Ego, and Guide—fit under [Category:Species], since that is for living organisms. WP classifies Halo's Cortana and Marvel's FRIDAY as [Fictional artificial intelligences] and [Fictional virtual assistants], respectively, if that helps. – Darman (talk) 16:35, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

I think having them all under one specific category is fine, but I agree with darman, I would not put that category under "species" since that term is specific to biological beings. I would instead have that under the category of "Technology". - Soranin (talk) 17:53, 5 May 2025 (UTC)

FwIW both the Shaun and Rah Cel'eze pages have their species down as AI in the infobox, the latter of which was done by *checks notes* Soranin. :p I agree it's a clumsy fit but makes sense to me for Human/Isu/AI categories to be in one place for navigation. You're allowed to change your mind. ;) I see two years ago I was saying in the Simulations cat. talk that the AIs don't count as people but my feeling is with Shadows they're something more distinct now. Vetinari^{(Appointment)} 22:46, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
