Perhaps it is, but the sharpness of rapiers are often metaphorically referred to as "needles" and scarlet indicates it is blood-soaked. Also "surrender or die" sounds like something an arrogant person would say if they were triumphant, but offering mercy. | Perhaps it is, but the sharpness of rapiers are often metaphorically referred to as "needles" and scarlet indicates it is blood-soaked. I'd personally mull it over for a little while before considering adding it as a reference, just to prevent it from being removed so soon. | I'd personally mull it over for a little while before considering adding it as a reference, just to prevent it from being removed so soon. Saint Seiya reference - Scarlet Needle
You know Saint Seiya, right? The japanese anime?
This character, the Duellist, has a weapon called Scarlet Needle, which seems differentt from every other weapon in the game, given its warped shape and its bright crimson color.
So in Saint Seiya there is this character called Scorpio Milo, and one of his moves is called nothing less than Scarlet Needle, in which he shoots a red needle from his finger.
That alone would already be enough. But there's more.
The weapon description says: Choose your fate: Surrender, or die , which is, guess what? Scorpio Milo's famous catchfrase.
That is a dead giveaway for me.
So, am I the first to catch the reference? Someone please reply
In case you want to know more, here is a link to Scorpio Milo - And here is a picture of the weapon and description -

A Weapon of the Duellist is a reference to the Saint Seiya anime
Perhaps it is, but the sharpness of rapiers are often metaphorically referred to as "needles" and scarlet indicates it is blood-soaked. Also "surrender or die" sounds like something an arrogant person would say if they were triumphant, but offering mercy.
I'd personally mull it over for a little while before considering adding it as a reference, just to prevent it from being removed so soon. Slate Vesper (talk) 00:03, August 25, 2014 (UTC)
