The problem is that when people think of the Count they think of Count Dracula and as Vlad was known to be the basis of this character then they impose the idea of him being one and the same character in the game. Vlad was a Prince and a King and historically he only held the title of Count in his younger days (as a boy). More then likely it has something to do with the Count character coming from the same region or dynasty that he is wearing similar clothing (the hat). Vlad the Impaler
