Woody Shinnings was a British citizen living and working in London in 1888.

Shinnings was an actor, working as an understudy for Richard Altman at the Adelphi Theatre in the City of London. In the autumn of 1888, around the time that Jack the Ripper committed the Whitechapel murders, Shinnings stabbed his co-worker to death outside the theater.

Inspector Frederick Abberline of the Metropolitan Police Service enlisted the help of Assassin Evie Frye to bring him in. She managed to kidnap Shinnings and safely delivered him into Abberline's custody.
