Whitehall

Whitehall is a road and nearby area in Westminster, London, England. It takes its name from the Palace of Whitehall that previously occupied the area until 1698, when it was destroyed by a fire. From the palace, the only building that remained was the Banqueting Hall.[1]

The street is regarded as the center of the United Kingdom government, housing many of its administrative buildings, such as 10 Downing Street, the Scotland Office, the Foreign Office, the Admiralty, and the Horse Guards.[2]
