The Vanir were a group of Isu who lived in the European region of Scandinavia. At some point in the Isu Era, they met and came into conflict with the neighboring Æsir in what became known as the Æsir–Vanir War, which only ended after Freyja entered into a political marriage to the Asgardian king Odin.[1] Soon after, the Vanir were nearly completely absorbed into their rivals. After the Great Catastrophe, the Vanir were revered in the Norse and Germanic religions as gods who were associated with health, fertility, wisdom, and the ability to see the future.[2]
