USS Eldridge was a ship of the United States Navy named for John Eldridge Jr., a hero of the invasion of the Solomon Islands. It was docked in the naval shipyard in Philadelphia.
In 1943, the ship was where a secret project was conducted by the Assassins under Colonel Boris Pash and the Templar scientist John von Neumann in an attempt to alter the past and present. Dubbed the "Philadelphia Project", it housed the Die Glocke, a precusor to the Animus.
On 28 October, an erratic Eddie Gorm snuck aboard the ship following the incident in Poland that left Julia Dusk dead. Eddie assassinated Nikola Tesla, a scientist foced to work on the project, before being confronted by Pash. Disillusioned with Pash's beliefs, Eddie commited suicide by shooting a gun through his head.
