Tokugawa Ieyasu (31 January 1543 – 1 June 1616), born Matsudaira Takechiyo, was the founder and first shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, which ruled from 1600 until 1868.

Ieyasu was one of many warlords of the Sengoku period, and opposed Templar influence spreading through the country; as such, he tasked his former squire Chaya Shirojiro Kiyonobu with reporting any Templar activity in the land, and was the lord of the Assassin Hattori Hanzō. At the Battle of Sekigahara on 21 October 1600, Ieyasu defeated Ishida Mitsunari and united the land under the Tokugawa.
