By the 860s, Tiferet had recently lost her mother, who had made a living making pottery. When she returned to her mother's estate to try and recover a treasure from within, she found a flood had partially submerged the home, rendering her attempts to enter futile. Angry at being denied entry, she began shouting and attracted the attention of the passing Alamut Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq, who offered his help to recover the treasure. Tiferet reluctantly accepted his offer and said her mother had hidden the prize inside a blue lustreware amphora. After swimming into the water-damaged house, Basim found the container. Once it was broken open, revealing its contents to be a sizable lump of copper, Tiferet explained how she intended to use the metal make more lustreware.
