The Burdens We Carry is a memory in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
Ezio frees Caterina from her cell in the Castel Sant'Angelo. As Lucrezia has hit her with a metal bar, she is unable to walk, so Ezio must carry her as they escape.
Dialogue
Prisoner Transfer
Ezio approaches Caterina’s cell with Lucrezia.
- Caterina: Salute Lucrezia! How I’ve missed you.
- Lucrezia: Via a farti forttere, troia. (Go fuck yourself, whore).
- Caterina: Always a pleasure. Bring her here. I’ll take the key.
Ezio brings Lucrezia closer. Caterina reaches into Lucrezia’s cleavage, retrieving the key.
- Caterina: Oh, classy.
Caterina unlocks herself and pushes Lucrezia into the cell.
- Lucrezia: GUARDS! GUARDS!
- Caterina: That’s enough out of you!
Caterina smacks Lucrezia's head against the bars of the cell, knocking her unconscious.
- Ezio: Can you walk?
- Caterina: No.
- Ezio: (Closing the cell door) I guess we are going out the front.
The Rescue
Ezio picks up Caterina and begins to carry her through the Castello. As they approach guards along the way, Ezio sets Caterina down in a safe location, before silently eliminating them, so as to avoid detection.
- Ezio: Wait here.
- Caterina: As if I have a choice. What are you doing Ezio? Come Ezio, this way. Ezio, this way per favori.
Ezio returns to Caterina after disposing of the guards ahead, he picks her up again, and continues through the Castello.
- Caterina: Why save me, Ezio? With Forlì taken, I am useless to you.
- Ezio: You have a family.
- Caterina: It is not your family. That night at the Villa, I had to ensure our allegiance to protect Forlì. Do you understand, Ezio?
- Ezio: É la politica. (Politics.) Of course. I knew it. You need not explain. Caterina. Did they...? Did Cesare...?
- Caterina: No. My name must still have some small value. I was left...unspoiled.
They approach an open grate in the floor. A large pile of hay is on the ground of the floor below. As Ezio walks to the edge, Caterina looks at him suspiciously.
- Caterina: Don’t you dare.

Caterina screams as Ezio drops her into the hay. After she lands safely, Ezio follows her by performing a Leap of Faith. Whilst hiding in the hay a guard approaches. Ezio assassinates him, and hides the corpse in the hay.
- Caterina: Figlio di puttana (Son of a whore). Never do that again.
They leave through the front door of the Castello, and notice the front gates are locked.
- Caterina: It seems to open from there.
Outcome
Ezio unlocks the gates and they escape the Castello grounds to the stables.
