'''Sister Teodora''' (born Teodora Contanto in 1450) is the leader of the Venetian [[Courtesans]]. Her family the Contantos where jewellers and from a young age Teodora was apprenticed to her mother as a shop girl. Visitors to the shop noticed Teodora's beauty and charm, in 1462, one man buying diamond earrings for his wife, Margarita, noticed the twelve year old Teodora and left wishing he had never married. Five years later in 1467, court records show that on 26th of November she was caughte having an affair with a married man and his wife had alerted the authorities. To avoid legal action her parents sent her to a convent as punishment to live out the rest of her days in peace and prayer. Later that year, Teodora entered the Santa Maria degli Angeli convent. However after five years, 1473, at the age of 23, Teodora grew tired of convent life due to her own personal beliefs. She left leaving a statement nailed to the door in which she talked about life as a nun being "earthly" and sterile. She concluded her letter with a brief description of her own belief "only in partnership with another can one truly enter the arms of God". She opened the bordello, La Rosa Della Virtu, the "Rose of Virtue", which was staffed entireley by former nuns, in Dorsoduro, Venice, an area popular with artists. The only one of her girls who is named is Lucia who was stabbed and robbed in La Rosa Della Virtu. One of her regular customers, Pietro Bembo, said her bordello is "the Church for a new sect of Catholicism". Like all the Italian Assassins, the fate of Sister Teodora remain unknown. La Rosa della Virtu's infamy reached the Pope's ears and he tried to force the Venetian Council to shut it down without success. 17 years after the events of Assassin's Creed 2, La Rosa Della Virtu was burned down by a disgruntled bishop who wanted to lie with one of the girls for free, however the church tried to claim it was an act of God.

Originally a daughter of jewellery sellers, Teodora got in trouble for adultery with a married man, and was sent to a nunnery by her parents to avoid punishment in the courts. After just 6 years, at the age of 23, Teodora left the church to open La Rosa Della Virtù (The Rose of Virtue), a bordello staffed solely by former nuns.

She is revealed to be an Assassin when you fight Rodrigo Borgia in Venice for the Piece of Eden along with several other characters.

Trivia

  • Although no longer a part of the Catholic Church, Teodora considers herself a nun, in her own brand of faith.
