Surtr's Mercy was a flail named for the fire jötunn Surtr of Norse mythology.
In the late 9th century, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan bought this flail from Hildiran, an old woman who'd moved to Ravensthorpe after a meteor uncovered the entrance to Freyja's Cave.[1]
