The Staff of Athens

The Staff of Athens was a type of staff primarily wielded by distinguished citizens of ancient Athens, doing double duty as both an accessory as well as a weapon to defend themselves with.

In 428 BCE, the staff ended up in the hands of the Spartan misthios Kassandra after she provided an antidote for Alkibiades, who had been poisoned at a party during the Olympic Games.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
