Armand Bouchart (died 1191) was the Grand Master of the Knights Templar, succeeding Robert de Sable.

Biography

Time in Cyprus

Armand bought the island Cyprus from Richard the Lionheart after he had captured it from Isaac Comnenus.[1]

Upon arriving in Cyprus, Armand established his own rule alongside his fellow Templars and lieutenants: Moloch, Shalim, Shahar and Frederick the Red. Together, they sought to locate and evacuate all the artifacts hidden within the sacred Templar Archive.[1]

Death

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, the Grand Master of the Assassin Order and killer of Robert de Sable, sought Armand numerous times during his visit on Cyprus, though with no success.[1]

By the time Armand had already completed his plans and evacuated all of the Archive's artifacts, Altaïr caught up to him and the two dueled, resulting finally in Armand's death.[1]

Personality and characteristics

Armand was a tall, slim man in his 40s. He was a master swordsman, and the most powerful opponent Altaïr faced on Cyprus.

Final Words

Altaïr strikes Armand.

(Altaïr stabs Armand with his sword, causing him to fall.)

Armand: You are a... a credit to your creed, Altaïr.

Altaïr: And you have strayed from yours.

Armand: Not strayed, expanded. The world is more complicated than most dare admit. And if you, assassin, if knew more than how to murder, you might understand this...

Altaïr: Save your lecture on virtue for yourself, and die knowing I will never let the apple fall into any hands but my own!

Armand: Keep it close, Altaïr. You will come to the same conclusions we did... in time...

Trivia
