Armand Bouchart (? - 1191) was the Grand Master of the Knights Templar, succeeding Robert de Sable.

Biography

Time in Cyprus

He bought the island Cyprus from Richard the Lionheart after he captured it from Isaac Comnenus. Here, he established his own rule alongside his fellow lieutenants: Moloch, Shalim, Shahar and Frederick the Red. The true reason of him being on the island was a sacred Templar Archive. His goal was to evacuate all the artifacts that were hidden there.

Death

Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, Grand Master of the Assassin's Order and killer of Robert de Sable, sought Armand numerous times during his visit on Cyprus, with no success. By the time Armand Bouchart had already completed his plans and evacuated all of the Archive's artifacts, Altaïr caught up to him and the two had a duel, causing Armand's death.

Personality and characteristics

Armand Bouchart was a tall, slim man in his 40s. He was a master swordsman and the most powerful opponent Altaïr faced on Cyprus.

Final Words

Altaïr strikes Armand.

(Altaïr stabs Bouchart with his sword, causing Bouchart to fall.)

Bouchart: You are a...a credit to your creed, Altaïr.

Altaïr: And you have strayed from yours.

Bouchart: Not strayed, expanded. The world is more complicated than most dare admit. And if you, assassin, if knew more than how to murder, you might understand this...

Altaïr: Save your lecture on virtue for yourself, and die knowing I will never let the apple fall into any hands but my own!

Bouchart: Keep it close, Altaïr. You will come to the same conclusions we did...in time...

(Bouchart dies, as Altaïr and Maria prepare to escape)

Trivia

  • In real life, it was Robert de Sable who bought Cyprus from King Richard I. Armand Bouchart served under Robert's reign as he was still Grand Master of the Knights Templar.
  • In real life, Cyprus was only headed by 14 to 20 Templar soldiers and Armand Bouchart, while Robert de Sable was the general of the mainland forces.
