Sinis was a bandit who lived within the Isthmus of Poseidon in Greek mythology.
According to legend, Sinis occupied a road located between what later became the Sanctuary of Isthmia and the Port of Kechries. There, Sinis would torture unwary travellers who passed by the area and bend the trees to tie the travellers to them. He would then released the trees which tore the travellers apart. Eventually, his misdeeds were discovered by the Athens-bound hero Theseus, and Sinis was slain.[1]
