The Silver Mines were a cave system in the Silver Foothills on the island of Thasos, Greece. The system connecto the Silver Foothill Trail.
The Silver Mines were the source of the silver lead and pure silver used to mint coins.[1] As such, it was protected by a small military force when the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the place during the Peloponnesian War.[2]
