Samuel Prescott (1751 – c. 1777) was an American doctor and Patriot during the American Revolutionary War.
Biography
Prescott was born in 1751 and raised in the area around Concord. He apprenticed under his father, Abel Prescott, for seven years and opened up a practice in Concord. Evidence suggests he became a member of the patriot movement during his apprenticeship and worked as a courier for the Sons of Liberty.
On 18 April 1775, Paul Revere and the Assassin Connor arrived at Prescott's residence and requested his aid in warning Continental troops of an impending attack by the British Army.
Trivia
- When Paul Revere and Connor approached Samuel Prescott's residence, a woman could be seen exiting the house half-nude; this is interesting to note, as historically speaking, Prescott was visiting Lexington with his fiancee Lydia Mulliken who could have been the woman seen making a hasty retreat.
