The Roman Forum is a central location within the Italian capital city of Rome, surrounded by the ruins of several ancient Roman buildings and temples. It lies at the foot of the Palatine Hill.[1]

By the time of the Renaissance, the city had grown around the Forum, and it was a busy meeting place.[2] The site was used for several events such as public speeches, criminal trials and gladiatorial matches.
