Rauf greets Altaïr warmly as he enters the city gates, and inquires how his mission had gone. Altaïr evades the question and simply asks if their [[Al Mualim|master]] is in the fortress, which Rauf confirms. Afterwards, the two go their separate ways and meet again during the [[Templars|Templar]]'s attack on Masyaf.

As Altaïr exits the fortress along with the other Assassins, Rauf explains to him that there are some [[Civilians|civilians]] still trapped in the village, which is in danger of being overrun. Altaïr must distract the enemy, while Rauf and the others bring the villagers into the safety of the fortress.

After most of the inhabitants of Masyaf have retreated into the stronghold, Rauf makes a third appearance in which he tells Altaïr of the plan to defeat the Templars, who are already at the fortress gates. Altaïr, Rauf, and another, unnamed Assassin simultaneously perform a [[Leap of Faith]] to demonstrate to the Templars that they "do not fear death, they embrace it." Altaïr and Rauf land safely in the hay; however, the unnamed Assassin breaks his leg badly. Rauf stays back to quiet and comfort the man, and instructs Altaïr to continue on and activate the trap.
After all the villagers had been brought to safety, Rauf met with Altaïr again, saying that [[Al Mualim]] had devised a plan to route the Templars. As the Assassins' combat instructor, he is constantly heard lecturing the trainees in the sparring ring of the fortress courtyard. Additionally, throughout the game, as you earn certain promotions, Rauf will ask you to show his students your newly acquired techniques.

His final appearance is at the end of the game, wherein he "greets" Altaïr after he and the other citizens have been brainwashed by Al Mualim and the [[First Apple|Piece of Eden]].

Rauf (Arabic: رؤوف) was a member of the Syrian sect of the Assassin Order during the 12th century.[1]

Biography

Rauf served the Assassin Order as a combat instructor, training new Assassin recruits in the Order's fighting techniques.[1]

In 1191, he greeted the Master Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad upon his safe return to Masyaf after the failed mission at Solomon's Temple.[1]
