The Pythian Games of ancient Greece were a series of sporting, art, and dance contests held at Delphi in celebration of and dedicated to the Greek god Apollo. The Theater of Delphi was host to the artistic competitions, which included plays, poetry readings, and musical performances.[1]
After his victory at the chariot race during the Pythian Games of 478 or 474 BCE, Polyzelos had a statue made to celebrate it.[2]
