Port la Joye was one of three French strongholds in the North Atlantic at the time of the mid-18th century. Through these forts, the French exerted their control over the region. Port la Joye itself was located on the southern coast of Prince Edward Island.
During the French and Indian War, the Templar Shay Cormac attacked the fortress, using his ship, the Morrigan, to destroy its defenses, before infiltrating it on foot. He then killed the fort's captain, thus claiming the stronghold for the Royal Navy.
