Pontikonisis Islet

The Pontikonisis Islet (meaning "Mouse Island" in Greek) is a small island located off coast of Korfu near the city of Korkyra. The islet was featured in Greek mythology, where it said that the island was the legendary hero Odysseus' shipwreck that had been transformed into an emerald rock by the Greek god Poseidon.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, the misthios Kassandra visited the island during her vacation in Korfu. On the island, Korfu looted a treasure chest as well as several orichalcum ores.[2]
