Ezio, my friend! How may I be of service?

This article is in desperate need of a revamp. Please improve it in any way necessary in order for it to achieve a higher standard of quality in accordance with our Manual of Style.

The Poison Blade is one of the upgrades invented by Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad for the Hidden Blade, essentially a hollow needle filled with poison. Whoever Ezio injects with the poison will go berserk, swinging their weapon or fists wildly and attacking all those in range before dying. Ezio can replenish his supply of poison by buying poison vials from Doctors.

This weapon is one of the best the player will get in the game; this is because Ezio can kill someone without attracting much attention to himself and instead making people look at the person going berserk. If the people looking at the person who is berserk are the targets, Ezio can assassinate them quickly and silently without them noticing a thing. Additionally, the player can make someone go berserk as a distraction to draw guards away from the target and assassinate him. This is especially helpful during Assassination Contract missions, as most of the time the targets have at least one Guard with them.

Poison vials cost 175 florins each and Ezio can carry up to five vials, but poison pouch upgrades bought from a local Tailor raise the amount of vials Ezio can carry at once (by up to 15).

In Assassin's Creed: Renaissance, the blade doesn't cause guards to go berserk, but kills them instantly. Also, it is commonly used by Ezio during combat.

Ways to use the Poison Blade efficiently:

The Poison Blade is the most discrete weapon in the game, and as such, has multiple uses that all pertain to stealth assassinations:

  1. Silent Kill - Guards will never notice the poisoning process, even if it is right in front them.
  2. Attention - Distraction is an important tool to use during missions. If you can't find thieves to lure the guards away, mercenaries to fight the guards, or courtesans distract them, the Poison Blade helps out a lot. Poisoning a peasant or any one else in front of the guard (5-10 meters away) will cause to guards to move to where the poisoned victim is going berserk and investigate. When the victim goes crazy and gets the attention of the guards you have two choices: assassinate the guards (you won't be noticed if the victim is still alive), or head on to your objective.
  3. Clean Kill - When doing an Assassination Contract mission, a single target has at least one body guard. One way to easily finish the job is to poison the guard, he will later go crazy and "accidentally" hit the target with his weapon and kill the target instantly.
