―Orlaf to Eivor, c. 874.[src]-[m]

Orlaf was a Mercian nobleman who served as a thegn alongside Eadric and Baeldaeg under ealdorman Merton of Sciropescire during the late 9th century.

During King Ceolwulf's reign, Orlaf worked with the allied Sons of Ragnar to combat the invading Britons led by King Rhodri the Great. Merton died in one of the battles against the Britons,[1] and Orlaf was captured and held at the Dhustone Quarry.[2] Eivor Varinsdottir freed Orlaf and the other thegns, and they joined her attack on Caustow Castle.[3]
