Oda Nobunaga (23 June 1534 – 21 June 1582) was a powerful daimyō in Japan during the late 16th century who initiated the unification of Japan near the end of the Sengoku period. When the Assassins made contact with Oda, he was sympathetic to their cause and promised an alliance once he had unified his country. But after he came into possession of a Piece of Eden, the possibility of an alliance was compromised.

He was killed by Yamauchi Taka, acting on the behalf of the Assassin Hattori Hanzo, during an attack by the Oda vassal Akechi Mitsuhide at Honnō-ji in 1582 to obtain Nobunaga's Sword of Eden.
