Oda Nobunaga (23 June 1534 – 21 June 1582) was a powerful daimyō in Japan during the late 16th century who initiated the unification of Japan near the end of the Sengoku period. He was killed by Yamauchi Taka during an attack by the Oda vassal Akechi Mitsuhide at Honnō-ji in 1582 to obtain Nobunaga's Sword of Eden.
